The light breeze swept across the turf racetrack, the summer sun shone brightly, the cloudless blue sky met with BE's green turf. The track wasn't too busy, a few horses were breezing, but not many were actually training.
A loud, powerful bugle was heard from the trackside. The dark bay colt appeared onto the track. His stunning markings standing him out from any other horse on the track - his dazzling white socks pranced onto the dry turf, his nostrils flared, as he tossed his head, his black mane cascaded down his muscled neck.
His rippling bodice moved excitedly along the track, his massive bulging muscles flexed as he leapt forward in a number of jumps and hops.
"Easy now.." Alice called, stroking his silky neck, sat atop the powerfully built two year old that was being led onto the track, to be raced for the very first time.
Frenchie champed at the metal snaffle, froth foaming at the sides of his mouth as he longed to bolt forward, to run freely along the track. His shiny black tail whipped against his flank, as he bounded forward. He whinnyed, ears pricked forwards at the track, wanting to be let free from the groom that held him back.
"It's alright buddy, he'll let you go soon...I promise.." Alice soothed, rubbing his neck.
Frenchie snorted, bobbing his beautifully marked head up and down in an attempt to loosen the lead that the groom was holding as they made their way upto the starting gates.

Life had been a lot cheerier in Maria's opinion as of late. She had finally managed to cut down her stock at all three stables, close Melody Hills, and open up her own kennels called Westend Ridge Kennels. All the horses were settled and happy, and Jjeitse WF had just retired from showing either permenantly or temporarily depending if Maria had time to take him through the Dressage Association. Things were looking up, and with a gorgeous smokey black colt on her arm, heads were turning her way. Well that and because she looked god damn hot. Maria looked as young as she felt, and she felt like she was twenty. One man did that to her, Nicholas Landing, well him and her son who seemed to have turned around into the good boy he used to be at a year old. Her daughter was in a happy marriage, and pregnant apparently, plus everyone else in her extended family and staff seemed to be just as happy. Things were going great, and Maria was in the mood to celebrate. However first things were first, she was taking Dreamweaver Challenger out for his first breeze.
A smile crossed Maria's plush lips as she led Aliby over to Jacquline Lee Barbaro, her daughter, who stood in the center of the track waiting to lead the two year old son of Northern Dancer to the starting gates. A month on and Jackie was already quite big, and still insisted on working with the horses. Maria could do nothing to get her daughter to just relax, so they comprimised that she would only handle the calm reliable horses. So why was she here with Aliby? Well she wanted to spend some time with her mother, and despite Maria's protests to let Cassie come with her, Jackie had come instead.
Aliby's steel hooves hit the ground for a second at a time, legs snapping up high to his chest as he pranced excitedly towards the blonde haired mother to be. Maria gave Jackie a loving smile, noticing how Jackie seemed to glow these days. Maria remembered those days. She always loved being pregnant, it was the giving birth part that was a pain in the ass. Maria gathered the reins up as she brought the smokey black colt to a halt, Jackie holding onto the bridle, as Maria slipped her black ankle length riding boot covered left foot into the stirrup. With one swift movement Maria mounted up, settling quietly into the saddle as Jackie kept hold of Aliby. Aliby threw up his head as she sat in the saddle, ears flicking back briefly before pricking forward as he bobbed his head up and down snorting, teeth scraping against the bit. His tail was held high, billowing to the right on the breeze, black mane cascaded down his muscular neck much like a waterfall, as every muscle in his body flexed whilst he pranced on the spot eager to go.
With a smile Jackie led the Sensation great grandson to the starting gates, slipping out on the other end as a track worker closed the gates shut behind Aliby's big butt. Jackie then slipped into the empty stall beside her and climbed up so she could see her mother mounted on the next big racing champion.
"He looks so good doesn't he? He's such a flashy thing, I've never seen a smokey black coloured racer before. He's definately gonna turn some heads. Have fun mum, and I have the stop clock to time this bugger, to see how fast he can go."
Jackie said with a grin, teasing obviously as her blue eyes sparkled. She got down and jogged over to the inside rail where she dipped under and turned around to lean on the rail. She had a prime spot to watch Aliby fly around the track.
Maria watched her daughter go, holding back a chuckle as she shook her head. Realising Aliby wasn't prancing anymore but standing stock still she knew something was up. Blue eyes looked down at the colt's head which was turned to the left, and sure enough right there was Frenchie - his childhood rival.
"Hey."
Maria smiled, inside knowing this was going to be one hell of a ride. Aliby's ears were pinned back, dark brown eyes piercing daggers at the bay colt, chest puffed out and standing tall. Nostrils flared continiously before he let out a firm snort - making his challenge to Frenchie. Hearing the click of a starting gun being picked up Aliby's head turned to face ahead of him, every muscle in his body tensing as he waited for the gates to open up so he could bolt out.

Frenchie was led into the starting gates. Shuffling on the spot the colt nickered, tossing his head as he coiled himself up, ready to spring out when the gates opened and he was let free.
Alice ruffled his mane as she spoke softly to him, telling him everything was alright. He snorted, pawing the turf with his leg - his dazzling white sock gleaming in the summer sun.
As Aliby was brought up next to him in the gates, Frenchie froze. He slowly turned his head to the right and pinned his ears flat against his skull. Alice nodded to Maria, bringing her goggles down simultaneously. He growled an angry nicker before turning his head back just in time as the starting gun fired and the gates flew open.
Frenchie broke freely, bounding out of the gates, he galloped strongly along the turf. Nostrils flared, ears pinned back, he fought hard against the metal bit that held him back.
"Easy boy..come on..wait up..." Alice whispered, knealt down parallel to Frenchie's body.
Frenchie softened down and carried his head low as he pounded on, pistons eating up the soft turf as he ran on strongly.
Aliby was close beside Frenchie, not giving an inch to spare. Frenchie snorted, growling at the colt near him. He whipped his tail against his lean body, warning the colt not to interfere.

Like the mechanisisms in the gun, something triggered inside Aliby's head as the gun was set off and the gates flew open. Steel hooves plummetted against the dirt track, pushing the huge sixteen hand smokey black colt out of the gates and onto the track. The wind soared through his silky mane, sending it flying out behind his neck, as well as his tail which danced on the breeze like a trail of fire.
Aliby roared down the track, nostrils flaring as he sucked in huge amounts of oxygen which flooded down his windpipe and to his lungs which were hid secretly behind his huge masculine chest. White star shone on his forehead like a star in the night's sky, lighting up the dashing smokey black colt against the bay colt he was now tracking just a stride behind.
Maria was keeping Aliby at a safe distance behind Frenchie, letting Aliby settle down before she let him overtake his now affirmed rival. Aliby was going a good steady gallop, but she knew he could go a lot faster.
Reins held tightly in her hands, Maria stayed in the jockey position, whip in her right hand as blue eyes looked over at Frenchie and Alice who seemed to be doing rather well together. Fortunately Aliby listened to her a lot better now, but she didn't know what he'd do when he'd get neck and neck with Frenchie.

Frenchie was now galloping at a steady pace. His nostrils flared, ears pinned back against his skull, head low as he moved swiftly along the turf.
Froth foamed at his mouth as he longed to be let forward, to move faster, but he was being held back until he needed to go. He was travelling at a fast pace, but he could go through at least four or five gear changes until he reached his maximum pace.
His mane fluttered along his neck as he turned the first corner, his banner proudly floating out behind his rippling muscled bodice.

Aliby was now fighting Maria to go, teeth continually tried to grab the bit from Maria, ears pinned against his skull as every muscle in his two year old body flexed and rippled under his silk fine coat. Maria was holding him back with as much strength as she had by now, but she knew even she couldn't hold him back for much longer.
After a few minutes she decided she'd let him go up just one gear, that wouldn't burn him out, right? So she slowly released a bit on the reins and gave a gentle nudge on his sides. Aliby didn't need much more encouragement. Infact, he needed none. In a quick burst of speed he tore past Frenchie with a glorious look in his piercing eyes, teeth revealed as he brought his lips apart, head high and a firm snort left his nostrils as he cantered a few strides just to tease Frenchie.
Maria gave Aliby a firm tap up with the whip, making him concentrate on running a good time and lap for his first breeze then get one over on Frenchie. Boys. Aliby immediately got back to work. Putting his head down, ears flicked forward the massive two year old was now galloping strongly as he went onto the inside rail, speeding around the corner like a lightning bolt as he approached the second straight.

As Aliby overtook, Frenchie took hold and pulled down on the bit, clasping his teeth round the metal, pulling forward in an attempt to overtake the colt. Alice pulled back, making him work harder, steadying him up as they came out of the corner.
Frenchie's nostrils flared as his barrel moved in and out taking in as much oxygen as possible. He snorted, keeping his head low as he pounded on, muscles flexing every millisecond as he ran long and low along the green turf.
Alice gently loosened off the reins and squeezed her lower leg around the colt - he pushed off with his hindlegs - moving up a gear, closing up on Aliby.
"Good lad, here we go..."
Alice whispered into the colt's ear as she kept low, hands steady as he came to Aliby's left flank. Frenchie flashed his teeth as he came neck and neck with Aliby. Keeping his right ear on the smokey black colt, Frenchie easily kept up with him as they galloped down the backstretch.
